Review: Rise of the Guardians (2012)

Directed by Peter Ramsey

"When the evil spirit Pitch launches an assault on Earth, the Immortal Guardians team up to protect the innocence of children all around the world." - IMDB

So I took my little brother, Logan, to see this on Christmas Eve because I'm just an awesome sister and I thought It'd be nice to spend some time together since it was Christmas! He'd been dying to see it since it came out and let me note that he's 7 so you don't think that we're two teenage weirdos who like to watch kids films together...

Anyway, I really liked the film! (I'm so good at writing reviews right...)
It's primarily a kid's film but even at 19, I really enjoyed it! Logan also said "it was the best film ever!" It was funny, entertaining and kept you gripped all the way through. Jude Law voiced Pitch who was the evil Bogeyman which just made the film really. Although he was the villain, his smouldering voice was still there!
Although the plot made me a little worried that Logan and other children watching would take it to heart (The Guardians had to stop the children from not believing in them) it turned out well and I found it really interesting. The characters fitted in well, and the film portrayed them brilliantly. I like films that tell stories of different characters and I liked this one because we got to find out how the tooth fairy and the sandman etc. (characters who founded our childhood) worked and lived. The characters were really believable which I think made the film as good as it was. It wasn't too over the top or not enough, just in the middle. Just right!

Although most of the characters were created and portrayed well, I didn't understand why they made Santa Claus, or North, Russian. We usually see Santa as English or American and in the back of my mind I was thinking that it wasn't actually Santa and when Logan asked if that was the real Santa etc. I didn't know what to say!
I'm guessing it was supposed to be a Christmas film, but it didn't feel very 'Christmassy'. It was set around Easter time for a start, and the other characters featured more than Santa. There were a couple of snow days, created by Jack Frost, but why would you have a snow day at that time of year? I think the time when the story was set was wrong, and even though a lot of it was set in Santa's workshop, it didn't feel like that was one of the strong/main points.

I'm having a bit of a creative block right now but I hope this has been good enough. If you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask! (Find Me)
Hope you've had a good Christmas!

Job Hunting

So I felt like it was time for a rant and what can I rant more about than job hunting?
I feel like I'm going to be a mess by the end of this and probably sat in a corner, rocking...

But anyway, let me put you in the picture; Months before I turned 16, which is the legal age to start work, I started looking for a job, unknowing that I needed my national insurance number, as I knew that some places employ people who are 14/15. Obviously I had no luck, but as soon as I got my NI number in August 2009, I was off. I was in the job market and desperately looking for a job. I was constantly handing out CV's and applying online but I got nothing. Not even an interview. Most of the places I'd applied to, I never heard anything at all.

Everyone said that I didn't have enough experience, which was fair enough because I didn't have any, but how am I meant to get experience if I couldn't get a job? I understand the fact that employers don't always want to train people from scratch but how do they know that I'm not a better employee than someone who had experience?

Being me I never gave up and I finally go my first (and only) job, just after I'd turned 17 in Sports Direct (never work there by the way) and started work in December 2010, on £3.64 an hour, which is basically slave pay. I'll never understand why I got so little. Don't be thinking "well obviously it was your age. That's minimum wage..." because a lot of my school friends also worked in Sports Direct, but another store, and they all got £4+.
So I'd finally got myself some experience in retail and after 6 months I couldn't take the slavery anymore and left. Yes I wouldn't have the money anymore but I scraped £100 a month, if I was lucky, and in this day it doesn't go anywhere.

I'd started looking for jobs before I left, in the hope that I wouldn't have to be unemployed, or not for very long anyway. I had several interview stages for Republic in the White Rose and I thought I had it so I left Sports Direct because I really couldn't take anymore, but in the end, I didn't get the job in republic. I shouldn't have been surprised to be honest and this became the story of my life.

So I've now been unemployed for around 18 months, during which time I've NEVER stopped applying for jobs and I've still got nothing. I've had a few interviews for different places but I haven't been successful. Granted I've given up handing out CV's but 99% of places nowadays just tell you to apply online so I just feel like it's a waste of time and effort.
One thing that really annoys me though, and which I don't and will never understand, is how all of my friends are getting jobs so easily. I apply to the same/similar places as them and put in as much effort as the next guy, and they just seem to get jobs as if it's like breathing. I really don't know how they do it! This just makes me feel even more like a failure and that I don't know why I bother applying because I feel like I'm trying to walk up a down escalator.

I know that the job market today is tough, but I feel like I never give up trying, which I don't, and I just get nowhere! I feel like I'm stuck in a circle, and I'm never going to get anywhere in life. I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong or what! I always make sure I write/say what the employers want to hear, and never lie or anything like that so what else do/can I do?

So yeah, it really stresses me out! If anyone can help me out, I'd be grateful!
I really really need a job by next September because I'm thinking of moving out with a few friends from uni into a student house, and by the time I've paid for rent, bills and food, and whatever else, I'm going to need some other way of finding money for myself as my loan won't stretch that far!

Rant over. If you've read all of this, you deserve a medal!

Film Review: Elf (2003)

Directed by Jon Favreau

"Buddy was a baby in an orphanage who stowed away in Santa's sack and ended up at the North Pole. Later, as an adult human who happened to be raised by elves, Santa allows him to go to New York City to find his birth father, Walter Hobbs. Hobbs, on Santa's naughty list for being a heartless jerk, had no idea that Buddy was even born. Buddy, meanwhile, experiences the delights of New York City (and human culture) as only an elf can. When Walter's relationship with Buddy interferes with his job, he is forced to reevaluate his priorities." - IMDB

So let me just start off by saying that Elf is one of my Christmas films. I love it so much! It's funny, heartwarming and definitely spreads Christmas cheer!
It's a film for all ages; I just finished watching it again and it never fails to make me chuckle (and I'm19) and I will confess to owning it on DVD... Unashamed!

The film really makes you believe that he is a real elf, and you forget that Will Ferrell is just a normal(ish) human being! Okay, so the storyline may not be believeable, but watching the film, you really do believe it and his story.
Buddy is a hilarious character and definitely larger than life. He's really childlike and reminds me of Brennan in Stepbrothers (2008), also played by Ferrell. I think that the casting as a whole is done really well. I couldn't think of anyone different to play the roles. The actors/actresses play their roles perfectly.

The one thing I don't like though is there's a sequence near the beginning where Buddy talks to a snowman and other creatures. They're made of clay models (I think) with stop animation. I think that it doesn't really fit into the film as it's the only thing you see like this in the whole film. It makes me cringe a little bit and detracts from the idea of the plot.

I definitely reccommend you to watch Elf if you haven't. There's something in it for everyone and I promise you'll enjoy it!

My Day at Britain's Got Talent 2013 Auditions

Excited after my audition with my BGT sticker. Getting in a bit of practise before my audition. The Britain's Got Talent banner. My sticker!

So on 4th December, at 6.30am, Paige and I set off to Manchester for my Britain's Got Talent audition. It was a mental day of Alan (my guitar) causing havoc on the train during rush hour, falling on people on the bus, trying to find the venue, being filmed for TV, watching all the mental, too far out there acts rehearse and making sure everyone was listening, going to the 'German' market in Manchester and doing it all and getting home for 2pm!

I auditioned for last year's too but I didn't get past the first, producers round, so I though I'd give it a go again! I love going down to audition, any chance to perform I'll grab, and it's such an exciting experience! There's such a buzz in the room and even just seeing all the signs and things is so exciting! I like auditioning for BGT because it doesn't take ALL day, like XFactor, just a couple of hours, but it isn't anywhere near as mental!
I won't find out if I've got through until the end of February so finger crossed, but to tell the truth, I'm not getting my hopes up, you have to be either really amazingly good or ridiculously rubbish to get through on that show!

Oh, and producers, if you happen to stumble across this, I will not give up auditioning until you put me through - heads up!

I'm Loving: Nail Art

Please visit my Pinterest page for all sources.
I'm sorry for the size of this image, I had it bigger but it was too wide for the page. If you click on it, it should take you to a bigger size!

So I've been obsessed with nail art for a while now, but I'm not as addicted as I used to be! When I first bought my nail pens, I'd do my nails every night!
I always look for inspiration via the interweb - usually Google images or Youtube - and I found the Pinterest website through a Google search I once did. I found an awesome page where a girl pinned nail art from all across the internet and after a while, I decided to create my own page so I could pin my favourites that I had found.
These are just a few of what I have pinned so far, and I guess I best point out that these aren't my work, visit my page for their owners!
Definitely trying out some of the Christmassy ones in the next few weeks! I quite like painting my nails for themes and events; I did the Mcfly symbols for their tour earlier in the year!

So I just thought I'd share these little nuggets of creativeness with you since I haven't posted in a while and my most recent posts have all been film and other reviews!
I've finished uni now for Christmas so I have some more spare time on my hands to post!

Bye bye for now!

Memory Lane: The Best of Mcfly

Warning: This blog post contains bias towards Mcfly and a lot of 'fan girling'.

So who would have guessed that I would have done a post on this? Well, pretty much everybody right?

Memory Lane: The Best of Mcfly was released today and I just had to go out and get it. I was going to get it tomorrow when I have plans to go shopping but I seriously couldn't wait! Yes it is basically just made up of songs which I already have on iTunes and know all the lyrics, and chords in some cases, to, but it was the prospect of BRAND NEW songs on here which made me need this album in my life. And obviously I bought the deluxe edition, but at £3 more for an extra CD including tracks you've never heard, why wouldn't you?

I have already run out of words to say. It's just an amazing album (especially being a huuuuge Mcfly fan anyway) which does contain the best of Mcfly. There's some demos, unreleased tracks and b-sides, alongside the classics which we know and love. The demos from 2003, when the band were just starting out, sound so different to the actual album versions. The Obviously demo is probably my favourite, it's so cute! (If a song can be cute...) Having read the first few chapter of Unsaid Things: Our Story (Mcfly's autobiography) and learning how they got together, it's amazing to hear the sounds they were talking about. The unreleased tracks and demos are amazing too! These include Do Watcha, which they played on their Keep Calm and Play Louder (KCAPL) tour in March/April this year, Cherry Cola, and on the deluxe version, Down Down and Mess Around You. Down Down is an amazing new song/demo and probably been my favourite so far (I haven't listened to the whole album yet because 70% of it is what I've heard a million times already) although I do really love Do Whatcha and the Obviously 2003 demo.

I'm trying to hold back from keyboard spamming. It's an amazing album and if you like Mcfly (like being the smallest proportion of interest in Mcfly) then go an buy this album! Even if you don't, go and buy it, I promise you that you'll love them after you've listened.

Memory Lane is out now in stores or online.

My Weekend at Leeds Film Festival #2 + A Few Messages

So another exciting weekend, volunteering at the film festival has gone by!
I only did 2 shifts this weekend (Friday 9th & Saturday 10th) so slightly short ramblings today (aren't you lucky) although I feel like I'm having a mental block at the minute so please bare with!

I'm not sure if I mentioned in my other festival post, but the festival favourites are repeated again so keep checking the festival website for the latest news and showings!

The first 2 films I watched this weekend, on Friday, were Seven Psychopaths and Sightseers, both are top rated films at the festival and 'black comedies' and in Victoria Hall in the Town Hall.
Seven Psychopaths; I thought that this was very funny, and I'm quite a fan of Christopher Walkin anyway. The film as a whole was 'okay', I think the ending ruined it a bit as it seemed like the writers had just run out of ideas; it didn't really go anywhere. Also, being a dog lover, and the dogs which they mainly featured, also looked like my dog, Scooby, it was a bit sad to see them being captured and threatened to be killed (SPOILERS! :P). The film was a bit gruesome in places too, and I don't do gore at all! Overall, I did enjoy the film, but it wasn't my favourite. I do recommend to go see it though, as I know quite a lot of people really enjoyed it, it was more to my personal preferences why I didn't. Seven Psychopaths is released in cinemas on 5th December 2012 (UK).
I was really looking forward to Sightseers after hearing it was really good and missing the first showing. It was also filmed in Yorkshire and in a caravan, and I love caravans! Basically, the only thing I really have to say, is that this is a black comedy! It was very gory and horrific. The ending was also a bit of a downer too, I won't say what happens incase anyone wants to go and see it, but it's a bit like "oh shit!" I came out feeling a bit depressed and sickly, again, like Seven Psychopaths, I just can't handle gore. It was really funny though and I had to stand outside the doors for 15 minutes incase of late comers (my job) and I found myself giggling even though I couldn't actually see what was happening. If you don't mind gore and a bit of "what were you actually thinking you crazy, psycho lunatic!" then go and see it! You can see Sightseers in cinemas 30th November 2012 (UK).

On Saturday I was at the VUE in Leeds. I thought it'd be really surreal volunteering here as it's an actual cinema with VUE customers and staff around, but it's been one of my favourite shifts! I saw The Shine of Day and Wrinkles.

Looking back I quite enjoyed The Shine of Day, and I didn't think I would because I watched the trailer and it seemed quite slow (check my review on Aaltra for my view on 'slow' films). I don't know what to say really other than it was quite interesting, but at some points, I was confused as to why things happened. The ending also just ended and I sat there thinking "what? Is that it?" I would have thought there would be a sequel, but I don't know whether there will be or not. It's quite a cute film but it didn't resolve anywhere.
Okay, story time! As I came out of The Shine of Day, I was told that there was a problem with the projector in the cinema and there was going to be a slight delay with the showing of Wrinkles, hopefully about 10-15 minutes. So as time went on, us volunteers and other members of the festival staff were starting to get worried about the film not actually showing, and we would have had a lot of angry and upset festival goers on our hands. 30 minutes had past and the projectionist finally got the film going and all was well, although we did lose a few people who didn't want to wait.
Please note: There may be a few spoilers in this as I need to explain some of the plot to express my opinions...
The film was a Spanish animation, set in an old folks home, and it started off being quite funny and a genuinely heart warming (ish) film. Then we meet Miguel who turns out to be a bit of a crook, and several elderly who have Alzheimer's who he takes advantage of, we find out about 'upstairs' and we hear residents, who have serious illnesses, shouting things like "get your hands off me, you're trying to kill me", and the main character develops Alzheimer's. So the first thing I have to say is it really upset me, like seriously. I considered walking out at several points. There are a few reasons to this, and they're quite personal, so I don't want to be explaining them all over my blog and the public internet. If you wish to know, contact me and I may explain:
1. I get really disheartened at things like abuse and neglect in places like an old folk's home. They're just vulnerable old people who need care and support as they can't look after themselves anymore and they rely and trust these people who were supposed to look after them. Now I know the shouts from upstairs were only because the residents have mental illnesses, but it still upset me.
2. The Alzheimer's issue. This is what upset me most as, lets just say, it's very close to home (and heart). The events related to this just almost made me cry, because I can relate to them. It was really horrible to watch.
I know it's only an animation, and not really real at all, but it was a kind of cartoon for adults and I guess it was easier to show things this way. If you're not as sensitive as me, then go and see it because it is a good film, it was just a bit too personal for me.

I only have one shift left at the festival, which includes a talk from the creator of War Horse (more info) which I won't be sitting in on, so I guess this is it for the festival posts! I hope they've been helpful and insightful and not bored you to tears! I may do another on the festival as a whole... We'll see! It won't be the end of my posts though; I'm going to try and keep uploading regularly, and I have my last essay deadline until after Christmas so I'll have some more free time hopefully now!

Final thing: I'm going to take this opportunity to tell you all about a charity concert I'm performing in on 1st December. It is being set up by my old singing teacher, Alison Eastwood, inspired by her mum and her Alzheimer's. Alison is doing some amazing stuff to raise money for this cause and I'm honoured that she's asked me to take part in her concert because of the issue being so close to me too. Details on the event are still to be confirmed, but if you're interested in coming along to support, feel free to contact me and I'll keep you updated. You can visit Alison's page here.

I've also created a new Flickr now I'm taking photography more seriously and have my DSLR :D
So yeah, check it out!

Thanks for reading! Have a great amount of time between now and my next post... (I'm so smooth)
 Toodlepip!

My weekend at Leeds Film Festival!

So Thursday saw the official opening of the 26th Film Festival here in Leeds, and although I missed the opening gala, I heard it was amazing!
This year, if you don't already know, I have the opportunity to volunteer at the festival and see some amazing films which I wouldn't usually go and watch! I've worked 3 shifts so far (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and seen 6 films, which have all been so good in their own little ways, some more than others!
I thought I'd use the advantages of my blog to tell you all about some of the things I've seen over the weekend and recommend what you should go watch!

So on Friday (2nd November), I had my first shift of the festival at Hyde Park Picture House, which is an incredible, amazing venue and I just recommend going there at some point in your lives, whether it's to watch a film I recommend or not! It's an old style cinema, nearly 100 years old, and is the only cinema in the UK to still use gas lighting! It's beautiful!
At Hyde Park I saw Aaltra and The Art of Negative Thinking.

Aaltra was a little bit slow for me, it reminds me of La Haine; It's really slow, nothing much happens but it did make me laugh, especially towards the end. If you like that kind of thing, then you should definitely go see it but for me, it was a bit slow and I was just thinking 'when is this finishing again?'
The Art of Negative Thinking was miles better than Aaltra! (and we had better feedback too!) It was a quicker pace for a start! I can't seem to pin point why I enjoyed this more... I think it was just because it wasn't as slow and it was really funny too! I recommend going to see this film if you ever get the chance, it's just really entertaining!

Saturday (3rd) I was in Leeds Town Hall, working in Victoria Hall (the big, main one). I watched Reality and Argo.

I walked in 10-15 minutes after Reality had started (we have to wait for late comers) and I couldn't really understand what was going on or who the 'main' person/people were. I eventually managed to grasp it, but it's a kind of weird story... I don't want to give it away, but if you're interested click on the link up there ^. It was an 'okay' film but it seemed to drag on for ages. I read what the film was about online before my shift and I gathered that it was about this Dad who auditions for the Italian Big Brother so you'd expect to see him in the Big Brother house throughout at least a good 30-45 minutes of the film. But you don't. I'm trying not give away the plot too much, but basically, he sneaks into the house at the end of the film and just wanders about and sits there as the film ends. It was really strange and I though 'how could you even do that?' A couple who were in gave it 0 stars and I think they were a bit harsh, but it definitely wasn't worth 5!
Argo was the film shown at the opening gala and it filled a slot for the 'festival faourites' and I was really glad that they decided to show it again because after I'd heard about the opening gala, I really wanted to see it! Again, I walked in after 10 minutes or so and it was fairly easy to grasp, I don't think I missed too much. I thought that it was a really really good film (I'm so good at describing what I thought about it). It was really tense and gripping and I was really getting in to it! I kept screaming to myself in my head 'no no, go go go! Get out of there!!' I don't really know what to say without giving too much away, but just go and see it! It's released 7th November in the UK, this  Wednesday, so just go and see it on Orange Wednesdays with a friend!
I also bumped into Victoria (vipxo) whilst I was working (small world right!) which was always nice :D

Yesterday (Sunday) I was at the Town Hall again, but in the Albert Room, which is a beautiful room with 'light bulb disco balls' as I referred to them! The Albert Room shows mostly short films and documentaries, including Beauty is Embarrassing and Grandma Lo-Fi:The Basement Tapes of Sigríður Níelsdóttir.
Beauty is Embarrassing has definitely been my favourite of the festival so far! It's about this wacky artist, Wayne White, and his career. He's just hilarious! It was inspiring in a way; he just does whatever he wants, no matter what anyone thinks and he said this quote at the end which was amazing! Again, I have no words! If you ever see a showing of this, just go an see it! I never would have seen this if I wasn't volunteering, I wasn't even going to watch it, it's not really my kind of thing, but I'm so glad I did!
The second documentary, Grandma Lo-Fi was a bit surreal. It was about this 70 year old woman who recorded her own songs in her house and never played in front of people, she did it just because she loved to, and could! I felt like some of the things in there just appeared to be mocking her and made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I also don't understand why someone made this; it was made in Iceland, where she's from, and maybe I didn't get it because I like in the UK. Apparently she's a big star over there but she's not exactly Su Bo! I thought this would interest me, as it was music based, but it didn't really! The guy who I was working with gave it 5 stars, so I think this one's just down to personal opinion. I think it's the only film though that I thought I would enjoy and didn't. I saw the trailer for it a few weeks back at a launch thingymabob and to be honest, it didn't seem that good then. It just wasn't for me I'm afraid!

So that's it! We come to the end of my film watching, volunteering weekend, and if you've made it this far, you need a hi-five! Sorry for the looooooong blog post, but I'm always too busy nowadays to write anything of meaning so I guess I'm kind of making up for that! I should be doing some work right now actually but I thought I'd be nice and write this for you all :D
Hope it was useful anyway and you enjoyed reading my ramblings! Oh, and I hope to see some of you at the festival soon! Check out http://www.leedsfilm.com/ to check out all the film and events that are happening at the festival! Ciou for now!

Film Review: Looper (2012)

Director: Rian Johnson

Looper is a 2012 action/sci-fi/thriller starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt. The film is about 'loopers' who are sent criminals to kill. The criminals are sent back in time from 30 years in the future, when time travel is now invented. Without giving too much away, it all gets complicated when one of the loopers, Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), recognizes one of the victims as himself and basically his world gets messed up!

Although it's a film which I wouldn't usually go and see, I got an invitation from Heather to go along with the LSR Box Office (the Leeds Student Radio film show) crew and I thought that it looked interesting so I thought I'd give it a chance.

Anyway, the first thing I have to say is that the plot isn't very realistic. I mean, is it really the best and most plausible way to get rid of criminals? You would also imagine the film to be about Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, looking at the plot, but it turns out to be about this random kid who is supposed to turn out to be this evil mind who, if not killed, will 'control the world' and make life horrible for anyone involved.

I'm starting to sound like I hated the film bit I actually really enjoyed it! I like a film now and again that's different to the rom-coms I usually watch and even though I got confused... A lot... I was hooked throughout. I can't seem to pin point why I enjoyed it so much though, I think it was just an interesting story, despite it's faults. (and I do have a slight crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt, not going to lie to you, but who wouldn't?)

So if you're reading this and thinking about going to see Looper, I'd say just do it! What have you got to lose? (apart from the ridiculously priced cinema tickets these days (but it you go on Orange Wednesdays...)) Although if you're sensitive about children being murdered or gun violence, I'd give this one a miss.

Life Update: I Haven't Disappeared

Yo peeps of the blogging world!
I realise I haven't blogged in forever and I thought I best do...
I've been super busy lately and I'm going to try and tell you about my busy bee life!

1. I've started uni!
YIPEE! I'm now a fully registered student at the University of Leeds, which I'm loving. I've been getting involved with just about everything I can and getting to know people! I literally have barely stopped moving for the past 3 weeks! Being at uni's really weird and something that I definitely need another week or two to get used to but I'm having fun!

2. I've been chosen to volunteer at the 26th Leeds International Film Festival!
Our lecturers at uni told us that we could apply to volunteer to work at the film festival and I thought, why not? So I did and I got it! I never thought I would which just makes me even more excited!
There was a meeting last night where we got our festival t-shirts and badges to wear and I just can't wait to start working now! It's something I've never done before and even though we don't get paid, it's great experience and looks good on your CV! (So I'd advise anyone to go for it (if you're 18!))
Unfortunately this means I'm going to be even more busy but what's a freshers' year without a packed schedule?
For more info on the festival, you can either contact me or click on the pic!

So I started this post thinking I'd have more to write about... But I seem to have stopped. It's just basically uni why I'm so busy! I'm planning on recording another cover soon so keep your eyes peeled on my YouTube and I'll try and blog whenever I can!

Ta ta for now!

My NYC Nails

Classy Glassy, Oh SoHo Sweet & Lights-Camera-Glitter (£2.49 each from Superdrug)
Bodycare, 99p!

So this is probably one of my favourite things to do with my nails, it's great for going out on the town!
I start of with a coat of 'Classy Glassy', which dries super quick, then around 2 to 3 coats of 'Oh SoHo Sweet' as it's quite thin and really pale. I then use 1 coat of 'Lights-Camera-Glitter' as I find 2 coats is too glittery for my preference and this also dries really quick. Finally I use 2 coats of 'Classy Glassy' as 2 coats gets rid of the glittery, rough texture.

I only wear false nails every now and then because they're not great for your nails. I wear them if I go out or sometimes if I feel like it! I usually pay a bit more money than this for nails as I used to buy them a lot when I was younger and I found that the cheaper option was usually rubbish and broke and what not. But I found these in Bodycare and I thought I'd give them a chance as plain nails like these usually thicken up when you glue and paint them anyway.
But I think these are great and really good quality! They're only 99p and you get 3/4 of each size nail (I think there's 7 different sizes) so you can use the same pack more than once, I think I've used mine twice now. They also stay on for about 3 to 4 days but for the price, you can't complain! The only criticism I have is that they're supposed to be short and I have to cut them down quite a bit as they're quite long when you glue them on, although I do have really short nails.

So there you go! A low budget, great nail design for a bit of sparkle! Love it!

Wishlist

So I recently gained a good sum of money from when I was an extra in Emmerdale for a day and a half so I've been on the internet and looking at things that in reality I can't actually buy because I should really save my money... I've fancied buying myself some new things for when I start uni which is why I've been internet shopping like crazy!! It's a new start so I feel like I need new things, why not?

About 18 months ago, when I got my first ever wage, I bought myself a Cath Kidston purse and I still use it to this day and it still looks brand new! So I fancy treating myself to a new one and I've found these two that I like which I may buy in the near future. They're a little pricey but since my current purse has lasted so long, I don't mind paying.

I've wanted a new leather jacket for ages as I don't like the one I have now (well, my mum now has it) as it has elasticated wrists and it doesn't feel that fashionable. I've been looking around for a while and they're all sooo expensive and I found this from H&M which is a decent price!

I don't have much to say on the other 2, I just really want them :P

Meeting and Greeting Mcfly, 22.7.12

So I need to start off by saying I apologise as I was going to do this post ages ago but I've never got round to it... Or posting anything for that matter. I've been super busy and I've been here, there and everywhere!

Well what can I say? AMAZING!
So for the second year running we went to Mcfly's Manchester Meet and Greet. Some say "How did you get this?" Well the simple fact is, we pay £70 a year to subscribe to their website and become 'Annual + Pioneers' (if you wish to know more on this subject, I suggest checking out their website because I'd just confuse you!) You basically get around 45 minutes to wander around a room where Danny, Harry, Tom and Dougie are each stood in a corner and you get to chat to them and have photos with them and it's just amazing! I recommend anyone taking up an opportunity like this with their favourite band!

I really don't have anything else to say without getting over excited and spamming on the keyboard! It's also pretty wordless to describe these days; I got to meet 4 of my idols, who would be able to describe that?

Long Time no See

I apologise now for the rambling in this post...

So I haven't posted anything lately because I've been so busy!
A week ago, we found a house, after been looking for a while, which we are moving in to this time next week which means we would have had 2 weeks to pack. But things are never that simple when it comes to me... I've been in Bridlington for a week with the Grandparents so I have only 1 week to pack, which is just insane!
So basically, that's why my posts are poop at the minute!!

I promise I'll try and sort my life out soon!!

What I Wore

Dress - New Look
Bracelet - H&M (old)
Necklace - New Look (old)

I promise I'm not obsessed with New Look!

So this is what Hannah and I wore last night when we went into Leeds!
We had a lovely night and my throat hurt from all the laughing. We met up some friends from school since prom was cancelled, was good.
My shoes... Some of you may have read my post the other day about these and they turned out to be not very comfy and rubbed my feet. That's probably just because they're new and I don't so well in heels anyway!
Not much to say really on this matter. So tired so I can't think!

New Look Slingback Heels

I bought these shoes today from New Look. They were £17.99 with my student discount and even though I couldn't really afford them, I desperately needed some new black heels!
I'm a big fan of New Look shoes, they're reasonably priced and they last a while (I seriously batter shoes) so I was in Leeds today and I was running out of places to look so I decided on taking a trip and found these.
Anyway, they're really really soft and so they're not going to rub me and I'm rubbish in heels but I can walk in the (kind of) although I don't know how I'm going to manage on Thursday night! And I have funny feet and they fit lovely!! The slingback heel with the buckle thingymabob allows you to have them as tight as you want which is perfect for my skinny heels!
The only criticism I have is that they hurt the balls of my feet a little so I'm going to have to put some gel things in them. But other than that, they seem to be quite comfy (although I won't be saying this when I get home).
